KEYNOTE SPEAKER: PROF TIM O’CONNOR – A review of bush encroachment in southern Africa: changes and causes (Tuesday 4 November)
Tim O’Connor works as a scientist with the South African Environmental Observation Network. Prior to this position, he held the Chair of Range and Forage Resources at the then University of Natal. At the current time he holds an honorary professorship with the University of the Witwatersrand. His career has been concerned mainly with the plant ecology of savannas and grasslands, and to a lesser extent with the Karoo, wetlands, and forests of southern Africa. He has a special interest in vegetation dynamics, long-term environmental change, and the science of biodiversity conservation.
